My focus for March is “Joy”. When you think of “Joy” what comes to mind? I think about what adds value to my life.
Spring is on the way and just the thought of spring brings me joy. Even though it was 30 degrees here this morning, the weather forecast shows 70 degrees anticipated this afternoon.
Today I want to share 10 Ways to add a little “Joy” to your life. . . and remind you that adding a little joy doesn’t have to be complicated.
- A slow cup of coffee with a great view brings me joy. This chair is one of my favorite spots for my morning coffee. It’s a time for reflection and thankfulness and it always starts my day with a little more joy.
- Budding branches make me smile. I always look outside for budding branches. If you don’t have any in your area budding yet. . . . go for the faux. The real ones will be peaking through very soon.
3. Re-Fresh a room to add a little joy. A simple project like adding a wreath to a window pane over a dresser refreshed this bedroom.
4. Eating outside when possible can spark your day! I love to enjoy a meal outside, even if it’s on my porch or deck. Especially at this time of year, and especially after a long cold winter and limited opportunities to get out.
You know it can get really hot here in the south, so spring and fall are key to finding opportunities to have a meal outside.
5. Clearing the clutter and organizing something always refreshes me. I recently organized a pantry and it just feels so much better to open the door and see clearly what’s in front of me. More details on this project coming soon. . . .
6. A walk or talk with a friend, which usually leads to laughter can bring you joy. My faith is stronger with a little laughter. After all Proverbs 17:22 tells us, “A joyful, cheerful heart brings healing to both body and soul.”(TPT). I always need a little healing for my soul.
When you take a walk, breathe in that wonderful fresh air and feel the joy it brings.
7. Find something small that you enjoy doing. I love thrifting. I love finding some of those little “pearls” and treasures. One of my favorite thrifing finds is candlesticks.
I love all shapes and sizes.
Adding or changing candlesticks in a space can brighten up the feel of the room. Just making a simple change makes me feel as though I refreshed the whole room.
8. My faith is important to me. One of the most important ways to add joy to my life is starting my day by including quiet time for devotion and reflection. Here’s one of my most recent devotion books. Each day’s devotion is short but filled with so much meaning and a great way to start my day.
9. While I don’t love the thought of having to go exercise, I do love when I have completed my workout! For me that is pure joy.
I try to be pretty consistent by exercising at least four days a week. I always feel so much better after getting in 30 minutes of exercise. I am also so much more consistent when I exercise first thing in the morning. If this works for you, find the time of day that works best for you.
10. I love using essential oils in my daily routine. Even if it’s something as simple as diffusing some of my favorite scents to set up a spa-like atmosphere.
It really helps improve my mindset and brings me a sense of joy.
What will you do today to bring you joy? Make it simple. What adds value to your life? Life is too short to not find joy.
Here’s to hoping you find your cup of joy as I dream about spring!
