Decorating Curves that is!!!
Truth be told. . . . I’ve never had a lot of curvy furniture . . .
But lately. . . . I’m drawn to how curves in my home soften the room and add just that right touch
This DIY dining table changed my mind completely!
First. . . . this is probably my most favorite DIY ever. Really. . . . EVER!!!
Remember this small room that needed some light . .
I knew from the very beginning that I wanted a round dining table in this room. I wanted that smooth round edge that made it so easy for many to gather and invite great conversations.
But. . . I did not have the correct size table to fit this room, and when I added a leaf to my small round table, I had an oval table, not a round table.
Have you seen the cost of round tables – ouch! $2,500 to $3,000. . . .And that’s without the chairs!
So, what else could I do except go thrift shopping?
ReStore(s) for the win! I love shopping at a ReStore. I always find great things and I get to support the community – Win-Win!
In this particular search it took two ReStores to find my table. I found a solid round wood table top at one ReStore, but I did not like the base at all.
I grabbed it though – a solid wood table top – great find. I cannot seem to find my before picture, but believe me when I say this was quite an effort to remove the thick gummy. But so worth the work. .
It took removing the old stain, sanding and refininshing but I love the texture and grain in this table top.
Next step. . . .find the perfect base. SCORE. . . . it was at another ReStore.
Did you know that some ReStores have online shopping? Yep, that’s how I found this “pearl” of a base. Look at the curves on that base. It was exactly what I was looking for!
It was also unfinished, which made the job so much easier than having to remove old stain or paint. This was a big win for me. I knew I wanted a dark wood stained tabletop with a white base.
Just look at the results! I was able to get this beautiful table for under $250. Now how’s that for a budget friendly option?
The table will seat up to eight with no problem so whether it’s a small brunch or a dinner for eight, we have plenty of room.
While I’m adding some curves to my decorating, add some curvy detail on the chairs . . . .
A few curvy beads on the table
I even added some pretty glasses and round placemats and I’m all set. , ,
A little elbow grease and it’s exactly what I dreamed.
It’s truly important to be open-minded and look outside the box with a DIY project. Putting two separate purchases together gave me exactly the look I wanted at a fraction of the cost.
Find your “pearls” today through a DIY project. . . . You will be amazed at what you can find!
