It’s the little things. . .
That mean the most. . .
That drive you crazy. . .
That make life big. . .
That are easy to miss or take for granted. . .
That bring you true JOY!
Since I’ve talked about finding “Joy” all month, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to share my special thrift store finds – Vintage German Wooden Easter Eggs! I love them!
Easter is a really special time for me. It’s a heartfelt and soulful and I was so excited to start a new tradition at my house – an Ostereierbaum! (An Easter Egg tree.)
Aren’t these vintage Easter Eggs beautiful? I happened upon them merely by chance at a local thrift store. I loved them so much I had to create an Ostereierbaum for my home!
Plus, I learned a new word, which I’m not brave enough to enunciate yet!
The Ostereierbaum Easter Egg tree tradition is centuries old, and while some may see it as a way to welcome spring and new buds of growth, I love the tradition associated with these wooden German vintage eggs. The Easter Eggs, in general, are a traditional symbol of fertility and rebirth.
Some sources indicated the eggs symbolized the empty tomb of Jesus.
I love that creating an Ostereierbaum gave me a beautiful way to display my faith and these gorgeous vintage finds. I was lucky enough to find two sizes of eggs, both small and large – on one thrifting adventure.
It seems the German tradition has taken off in many other places.
It was such a simple and joyful add for Easter. I found the lighted stems at a local hobby store. Similar ones are here. Similar greenery can be found here.
This is now my newest tradition! The color and detail is just pure joy!
As an added bonus, I have really missed the twinkle lights since Christmas and this is a great way to celebrate with soft lights!
If you’re looking for a way to add a little joy to your room, try an Ostereierbaum.
And may you find true joy during this Easter Season!
