Love shows up sometimes in the moments you least expect it. And when that happens, oh. . . . it’s such an amazing feeling.
When it catches you and for an instance, just takes your breath away.
I was recently quarantined for an exposure to COVID. Being an introvert, I really didn’t think it would impact me that much! I like quiet time. I could Facetime family and work remotely too. So I thought. . . . . I’m good.
Interesting how things happen though. . . I realized how much “touch” adds to your life.
- I ached for hugs from my sweet grandbabies;
- I missed the little nudges, hugs and random touch of a hand from the Mr. as he passed by ;
- The hugs I couldn’t give my Mom caused my heart to ache. . .
A kind touch, really does warm the heart in so many ways.
But after two negative tests, and a couple weeks of separation, thankfully, quarantine was over. I didn’t take those gestures for granted any more. I think I loved deeper even after just a couple of weeks.
Now. . . to help put this in a little perspective. . . . typically, the Mr. is not a very romantic person, especially with outspoken expressions or actions.
But. . . over dinner one night, he commented how weird those weeks of quarantine were, and not just for me.
He didn’t like waking up without me there. He didn’t like coming home at night without me there. Then he said, “I don’t think I would even enjoy life, without you there every day.”
Oh my heart. . . .Without knowing it, he took my breath away.
So, in honor of celebrating a very quick February, and the month of Love, show your love and kindness today.
You never know what a difference it will make. And you might even take someone’s breath away.
Oh. . . . I even made him this chocolate chip heart-shaped cake in one of my favorite bundt pans. It’s so simple and you will also find the recipe below.

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
- 1 Sm Pkg Instant Vanilla Pudding
- 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Sour Cream (I used low-fat)
- 4 Eggs (Room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 6 oz pk Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Combine the wet ingredients – oil, milk and eggs together and mix well. Then add the sour cream and mix well. Add vanilla and mix together.In a separate bowl, combine the cake mix and pudding mix and stir together.Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix. You can use a stand mixer or hand mixer, but make sure both the dry and wet ingredients are mixed thoroughly. Once these ingredients are mixed well, hand stir in the chocolate chips. Pour into a bundt pan that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray and floured lightly. Bake for 50-60 minutes in a 350 degree pre-heated oven.Frost or glaze with your choice of icing. (I sprinkled lightly with powdered sugar.)
